She Sees Beauty

When most would not deign
to grant a second glance,
she marvels at the might
of plain and simple life.
When most see dirty pigeons
at their feet,
she says they're rainbows
of the street.
She speaks of the iridescence
of their plumage in the sun
as proof.
When most point out the blemish
of graffiti
painted upon lifeless city walls,
she tells of its poetry and art.
When most see only smog,
she indicates blue hope
beyond the cityís pall.
When most see only wrinkles
upon a face wizened with age,
she sees the sparkle
in the old oneís eyes.
When most see sin
and are eager to cast stones,
she sees humanity
striving to live, perhaps to learn
to do better next time.
When most in sorrow mourn
gathered around the dead,
her eyes are fixed beyond the grave
to Edenís welcoming threshold.
When most at best see nothing
and ugliness at worst,
she sees the wonder of it all
she is

Another encouraging poem. Why should I grieve when things are like this. The butterfly is spirit and truth and I am so glad I opened this poem and caught that darling butterfly and photo. My thing and Tom's sister's thing is butterflies. A little brown monarch comes and sits on Tom's sister's grandson's shoulder each spring, and we think it is the spirit of Ruth Anne's son coming to land on his son and let him know he is always there. Kent died of Lou Gehring's disease when 42 and left twins, a daughter and son and wife behind. It is sad, but writes like these help me understand why certain things in life happen. Beauty is with us all the time. Thanks.

To be able to see beauty and hope and love and treasures where the rest of us see the opposite is a gift that is never quite appreciated by the callus ones. But that's okay, she would say they just don't understand. Nice words.

"Mirajolie" - beautiful name for a beautiful and grace-filled, charismatic persona; what a gift she is and what gifts she imparts. Just goes to show the influence - even in subliminal ways - that one life can have, and what an impact she has on improving the environment she lives in!! This is truly inspirational - in both its message and its appreciation. And the most beautiful thing is the lack of self-awareness - either in this lady, presumably, and in the way you write to portray her: makes for even more brilliance! As Kenny says, this is reverential without being cloying: does the name mean "Pretty Face" or "Seeing Pretty" - or that type of thing? Probably both, because one probably produces the other! Of course, this whole "person"-thing could be a metaphor for Beauty in itself - in which case you fellas are not excluded either! In fact, mentioning no names of course, some of you just oooooze with it!! :)) I ramble, I'm sorry... LOL and TY Kate xx
