If the Shoe Fits: Stuff it!

"For I will be a doormat no more / But I will be happy to show you the door"

Transcendental Sonnet #1302:

If the Shoe Fits: Stuff it!

Author's Note:  This sonnet is not about contemporary Germans, Americans,

or anybody in particular except for narrow people who are fond of censorship

wherever they are, and they are everywhere.

Grandma used to call the Nazis "Noxies"

A reference to their obnoxiousness

Now as I suffer under their proxies

I understand what she meant more than less

Finding their fetters to be demeaning

I would rather speak plain and be borne away

By Neanderthals in the broad light of day

Captive poetry cries out for its meaning

One tires of being ruddy bloody mincing

So do your worst you cowardly hypocrites!

The status quo is false and unconvincing

And who do I mean then?  Well if the shoe fits:

Stuff it!  For I will be a doormat no more

But I will be happy to show you the door

Censors have no place in the poets world unless the poets work is of a nature obnoxious in itself such as the "Noxies" propaganda from tha period.

Brava Stevie!
You always produce brilliant work and so I won't comment on the technical aspects of this poem. As always it is perfect. What I would like to say is that I read anger in this one but anger can be a positive emotion if applied correctly. Don't let it bring you down but by all means DON'T be a doormat. You are far too special for that.
Take care precious friend

wow!...may i use this poem and your story? i am a radio co-host in east tennessee. although we are considered 'small market' we reach over 9 counties in our listening area. we talked in length about the voting process and whether or not each vote was counted individually or if the electoral college had graduated "cumasum2loudly" to a vehicle of decision making for the country in the country's 'best interest'. i think you rather made that clear in your statement. thanks.
i enjoyed your work.
hugs
