A poem dedicated to the war fighters of today and yesterday.

There are only three things that change in each war.
These conditions that vary are where, when and why.
One fact remains; people lose those they adore.
Freedom isnít free and may cause you to cry.

The soldiers at war need support from abroad.
Letters, cards, and gifts from home help ease the pain.
When the hero returns stand up and applaud.
Shower them with love like the slow falling rain.

It is a long road back to a normal life.
There are sure to be nightmares about those lost.
Be there with a caring hand to ease the strife.
Or else that local hero may too exhaust.

For all those that have paid the ultimate price,
We that live in your country want to thank you.
As a whole we know the next foe will think twice.
So to all the heroes then and now, we say adieu.

To all those overseas making our lives free,
Your quick and safe return we await to see.

Jeff,

As a veteran, I thank you for remembering those who serve, and especially those that paved the road to freedom with their sacrifice.

I salute you, Sir.

Outstanding tribute!

Thank you for this post and you are so correct. We take our freedoms for granted.

Jeff, They are heroes one and all..not only should we applaud them, we should remember them for all times. Without them this country would not be.
No Freedom isn't free, and for all those that have made that ultimate sacrifice, we owe it to them, to make sure we remain that way.
Great write!

Lisa
