Diversity
Is what I see
When I look at me
I am your usual
Heterosexual
African
Caucasian
Native
American
Democratic
Woman
I am 30
Single Mother
Teacher
Community Involvement seeker
Discovering that we’re not all equal
That we will
Hold down one
Who is not like us
For the sake of being righteous?!
The straight white man is king
of the world
He sold my family
Into slavery
He beats his wife
within an inch of her life
Those who love the same
sex
Are put to shame
‘Cause someone needs to take the blame
For the state our families are in
‘Cause apparently
love is a sin
But I see the light
ahead
And it’s bright
Our children have the knowledge
And that is power-ful
We must nurture their souls
So they can reach their goals
Don’t let hatred take hold
Teach our children love is all we need
To make the world right
So it’s future will remain
Bright
An end to racism
Is my vision
Building homes and jobs
Is the key
Help me realize this dream
All it takes is you and me
