A description of me and what I believe is right and wrong with the world today.

Diversity

Is what I see

When I look at me

I am your usual

Heterosexual

African

Caucasian

Native

American

Democratic

Woman

I am 30

Single Mother

Teacher

Community Involvement seeker

Discovering that we’re not all equal

That we will

Hold down one

Who is not like us

For the sake of being righteous?!

The straight white man is king

of the world

He sold my family

Into slavery

He beats his wife

within an inch of her life

Those who love the same

sex

Are put to shame

‘Cause someone needs to take the blame

For the state our families are in

‘Cause apparently

love is a sin

But I see the light

ahead

And it’s bright

Our children have the knowledge

And that is power-ful

We must nurture their souls

So they can reach their goals

Don’t let hatred take hold

Teach our children love is all we need

To make the world right

So it’s future will remain

Bright

An end to racism

Is my vision

Building homes and jobs

Is the key

Help me realize this dream

All it takes is you and me

You forgot to mention that the straight white man is a lazy, greedy creature too. So lazy and so greedy that he ripped humans from their ancestral homes. Then packed them into ships to be transported across the ocean like human cargo, where they were to be used as slaves because he was too lazy to pick his own cotton and too greedy to pay someone a decent wage.

As for ending racism, you are looking at the most powerful vehicle to exact that change. There are people from every walk of life reading your words and being touched by them. They are white, black, Asian, Hispanic, Inuit...you name it. On the internet we are all the same. We can't see color, or religion. All we see are people. And in a few generations, racial barriers will only be part of the history books. So keep teaching your children to teach their children tolerance.

Oh yeah, excellent thoughts and poem...lol. Sorry I tend to rant.
