Sometimes we make mistakes...

A Song from Home


 


I strummed and sang my heart out


Played every song I knew


The young lady clapped her hands along


She asked: Is there one I know youíll do


 


I smiled and said what do you know


She said sing me songs of home


I drank a few too many beers


And kinda feeling all alone


 


You see at sixteen I ran away


I thought I knew it all


At seventeen I discovered drugs


Needle tracks in the hall


At eighteen I turned a trick


Too late I knew that I was hooked


At nineteen I was arrested


Prostitution charges booked


At twenty I found hope in Jesus


Or maybe he found hope in me


Iíve been clean for six months now


The Lord worked his love you see


 


So now Iím working saving money


Iíll soon have enough to go


To the arms of Mom and Daddy


Who still want me back I know


 


I picked up my old six string


I said this oneís for you


Itís one I think youíll like


Iíll play ďAmazing GraceĒ for you.

The power of transforming Love, poignantly and movingly portrayed, Felix - but without a trace of over-sentimentality. Could feel such deep compassion for both these characters, and know from personal experience the overwhelming and cleansing love that is spoken about. It is totally inclusive and freely flows person to person, such that anyone who comes into contact with it can feel it's waves washing over them. Amazing indeed!! Just beautiful TY Kate xx

If all the ones that have left home could read this it might give them more hope of cleaning themselves up and going back home. Jesus always has hope for us, we just need to ask for it. We can always have Amazing Grace. Beautiful poem. Karen
