I'm not afraid of bugs
Or anything that crawls
I'm not afraid of noises
Or bogeymen in the halls
I'm strong for my age
I can climb the highest tree
The only thing I fear
Is when the giant comes for me

He looms in the doorway
Such hate in his eyes
Towering high above me
He never hears my cries
I am so very small
Under his powerful hand
I can't defend myself
From this giant of a man

I'm not afraid of ghost
Or the man in the moon
I'm not afraid of bears
Or the bite of a racoon
I'm not afraid of spiders
Or the big bumble bee
The only thing I fear
Is when the giant comes for me

I'm not afraid of bullies
That taunt me in the park
I'm not afraid of shadows
That linger in the dark
I'm not afraid of monsters
Or things I cannot see
The only thing I fear
Is when the giant comes for me...

Wouldn't it be nice if all children had a can of "Giant Repellent" to defend their innocence?

Grown people can have nightmares, too. Yes, OTHER people! I get you and I feel this is true for most of us. We just don't see the dark behind the so called light we're all supposed to be showing to others as good people should. Never trust anyone till you know them. Not an easy task. Take care.

civilisation in kind and barbarism in mind in the world going on unabated! Because children are weak, meek and insecure, they are subject to barbaric evils of the adult! For every child one adult stand behind and support him against this crueltyto children!First step towards is eradication of child labour!Nice write Linda1

My friend...this is a great pirce of work and one of your best and should be sent in for publication. It teacches a great story on what childhood bravery is and how easily adults can destroy it with abuse.
Great Write!

We all have our fears, Linda, it is true. But the most heart-wrenching fear is that fear that suffocates us with is UNFAIRNESS. It is a lesson learned way too early for some and for this, I can only say shame on The Giant. Oh, one more thing, why do the courts of this great land allow these monsters snything but a horrible death?

This sounds like a nightmare that haunts children and I get what it is you are saying in this.

May say children on your genre, but it's about the vilest of the vile.

I had my head hit 3 then 8 times stopping a kid from being hurt. By a monster.
But I got it on my vid phone. And he has now been sorted..Even if not by police..
