I found the first two lines embroidered in blue on a sampler. Only the last line is mine. Does anyone know who authored it?

This has always been one of my "favorite old quotes," and I've collected thousands in my lifetime. I have forgotten, though, who penned this...but I do know it goes back quite a long ways. Your original last line is perfection.

It was a work shop student, in a thank you letter to her tutor..
And gets quoted oftentimes.

He does to our heart, but the only way he can come in, is if we open our heart from the inside..

it is a popular slogan in self help or aa meetings but i have never seen it attributed to anyone...your verse added to it gives it extra meaning
