There has always been and it seems there will always be
A perception that something is wrong with homosexuality
When you find out that you are attracted to the same sex
The first thing that pops into your mind is not the cause and effects
For sure, the very first words whispered, as one wonders why
Is ‘Oh my’, two little words full of questions without reply
Answers to all of the questions have long been known
Yet misinterpretation and ignorance, prevents their being shown
When you find out, there are things that you should know
The world is still learning and some will wish you woe
So in your search for a place in this world, your true identity
Surround yourself with kindred souls, be all that you can be
Don’t buy into shame and guilt, for that’s your adversary’s game
Instead, help remove their ignorance without placing any blame
Always know that they are the victims of religious zealotry
They need your words, your light, to enable them to see
You won’t be taught about our past in any history class, not yet
But search the library and bookstores, the truth is there, you can bet
Then share your knowledge with the world; they’d be surprised to know
Of all the gifts we offer the world, in art, fashion, design, and show
And when someone leads you to believe that everyone’s the same
Let them know how different you are, and from whence you came
For my brothers and sisters, you have much reason for pride
And many have fought for your freedoms, and many have died
The works that they have so willingly given to end our oppression
Should not be in vain, or forgotten; they should be our inspiration
Then go, show the world, love the world, and another thing you should know
You are the key to our future, as you unlock the doors wherever you go
I’ll promise you this, it won’t be easy, and really, life itself is not a breeze
Buy when you’re true to yourself, love yourself, you’ll get through it with ease
Imagine how you can change the world, being who you are without doubt
There’s no telling what wondrous adventures await you when you find out
