(A slide show)

newlife sunbursts
from a swollen belly

premature. . .unfit to live

yet continues to thrive
anyway. . . in spite of &

we must never ask "why?"

oldlife cloudbursts
in the midst of human tears

fully ripe. . . unfit to linger

yet continues to be hooked up
anyway. . . in spite of &

we must never ask "why?"

midlife contemplates
in the waiting room

surviving. . . unfit to fight
yet continues following orders
anyway. . . in spite of &

in hopes of making the thought
of birth and death into
minimalistic routine,
habitually wasting time
while waiting for white coat
angels in training,
they are precriptors
of a dead language,
rejects of Handrwriting 101

we must never ask "why?"
to alien gods, licens'd to deduce
a reason for our woes,
who hold our heartbeats
in the palms of their ego

oh no,

we must never ask "why?".
