I've missed so much Kate. Please forgive me. Life has been so hectic and I've only checked the board when I've had a moment and reviewed poetry I found there. Now that I'm tracking you, I will be able to tell when you post new material. Why didn't I do this long ago? Another superb poem that literally made me draw breath with awe.
I have said this to you before but if there was ever a poet that I wish I could emulate, it would be you. Take that as a compliment.
Love and admiration

Because a candle burns
I am not in the dark, alone
You are with me, but you are not
the molten wax that singes my finger
with its burning liquid skin

breaths while reading, and could almost see and smell the smoke of that extinguished flame.
I love your work, Kate! |

| ...proving once again, or maybe for the first time, that suggestive words and blatant sex (Shhhh), is not poetic erotica... THIS is where it's at, my sweetly overheated, flammable femme, Kate. YOU 'light up my life' and tons of others' as well... visions, written with grace. Sigh... lovely! katy xox |

| I think the object of our desire may be even closer in our longing, as you have emoted here Kate. As I was reading this smokey little gem, I was listening to "Fever" by Ray Charles and Natalie Cole...funny, life's little coincidences! Don't you just love the smell of snuffed candles, heavy with musk? Love the analogy... |

The flame of love, of passion and of need can burn wildly or flicker and fade out if the wind blows too high. Nice write and lovely thoughts Kate.
May your poetic flame never be extinguished.
