Technology for technologies sake and the human condition...a good mix?

Ultima Thule = an unknown far away place, the ends of the Earth.

In monolithic modernity

we suffer post imperial malice

having drunk from the chalice

of perpetual prevarication

and become lost in a sea of mediocrity

adrift in aimless sensibility

searching for a cure

now in our alchemy

In the light of darkness where

shade and shadow become transposed

Tears of glass, fall like serpent rain

from a shattered sky

Dissolving particles of a crest fallen star

In a crucible of crystal canyons

Bubbling, fizzing, neon circuitry

transmuting our baseness into gold

Sins no longer hidden behind

passionless clouds emerge to watch

the playing of karmic snakes and ladders

ivory tumbling to find you out.

Gathered now in the halls of the ring giver

We wait for tokens of broken fortune

to accompany us to journeys end

Ultima Thule, Where we can reflect

on our fabulous disaster

Then dream some more and perhaps,

map the metaphysical in the parliament of the sun.

Stunning and so well-conceived: the imagery and metaphors are "out of this world"!! Great lines: "Tears of glass fall like serpent rain"; "Where we can reflect on our fabulous disaster Then dream some more and perhaps, map the metaphysical in the parliament of the sun". Wow! Outstanding! Iron fist in a velvet glove, sleight of hand like the Great Magician! Really like this, Paul! TY Kate xx

My Dear friend Paul,

Another one of your exceptional writes. A profound poem, giving much food for thought, how humanity believes that anything can be produced, but how often do things go beyond our control is there always an answer or cure? NO... how wrong humanity is, so full of misconceptions. Your third stanza is incredible, could those tears of glass be the test tubes in an imagianed alchemists laboratory?

Great write Paul, as always.

hugs and love

Dear Paul,
This is a magnificent creation. I read it a few times to fully grasp the message. Perhaps I stitched my own meaning into your words but I found it to be deeply philosophical, creative and incredibly expressive. Well done!
