*I AM OKAY.*
This is how this one came to me, and so, I write.
i am not unfamiliar with death.
i see it
regarding me from behind corpse's eyes.
i hear it
chuckling beneath its terrible disguise.
i feel it
reaching for me to bring 'round my demise.
how long i have until my last good byes?

Though most purposely avoid thoughts of 'the big sleep', it's something we all ponder on occasion. Great poem..
Love the picture ('Mama' Bates, isn't it?)

|It's surely a thought in the back of the mind. Great poem, Karla!|

|this is deep. Well written poem|

|Yeah, we can never quite be free from such thoughts, perhaps... I have toyed with the idea of writing a poem about knowing the date and time and about how I would spend those final hours, like waiting for an appointment or something... would I run or wait placidly? This is striking in its succinctness and brevity, Karla. Very well done. TY Kate xx|

|Karla, That is a question we as earth bound creatures have not the insight to answer..so we live everyday as though it is that day, and that way we will always be prepared.
Scary photo but wonderful write!

|You wrote this with real "rigor," and the photo adds a bit of tingle to the phantasm.|

|Intersting write I have to agree, glad its not late at night might get the creeps from looking at the pic ugh!

|Interesting write...that thought that creeps in late at night when we awake and the reality of mortality nags at our near conscious mind.|

|Karla this is a very good description of how I layed on my bed in the Wisconsin Child Center, and again at the WSH. Only I didn't wonder tho, I hoped for an end to my hell, that was forced upon me. Even tho I will never know what I did wrong to deserve that kind of punishment, I have grown stronger from the experience. Thnx for sharing Karla. May the Lord be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love, peace, & (((HUGS))), Barbie

|Karla the poem is superb even if disturbing, but the pic now that is truly horror, I can't bear to look at it;-)!

|So Karla, rigor has finally set in,
Seems you are a bit young,
The picture does not do you justice,
Life can certainly be to live, a sin...
Maybe if you redid your hair, but your teeth are pretty well intact...Ed ;)

|It is the final unknown question, isn't it Karla. Your poem reminds us that we should live each day as through it were our last and love like the world might end tomorrow for all of us. Freaky picture, very good poem.

|Yes it is thought provoking be we will live until the day we die.|

|An age old question, which can cripple us if we let it... the answer is, we should say our "good byes" and our "love you's" on a daily basis... it will make our "hello's" even more special... great write, thank you, Dave|
