“Living might mean taking chances
But they're worth taking
Lovin' might be a mistake
But it's worth making”

Mark D. Sanders & Tia Sillers,

I Hope You Dance

He was embittered and very much alone

His relationship days were now sadly over

He was heading off to the wild blue yonder

To live a hermit’s life in the untangled clover

She had hurt him to the very core

He was done with love and all too blue

It was really time to move along now

Time to figure out what the hell to do

He soon packed all of his belongings

And gassed up his old pickup truck

His love life days were surely over

His relationships had run out of luck

And he drove for many long lonely miles

Through pastures once filled with desire

But he had truly become a lone wolf now

To a life of solitude he would now aspire

But as he approached the mountains of no return

She was magically waiting there to hitch a ride

At first he didn’t think that he would even stop

But eventually he put aside his foolish pride

He pulled his truck over to the side of the road

Her demeanor quickly captivated his heart

And as they rolled along together in his truck

He was soon struck again by cupid’s love dart

Even though he had been hurt very badly

She soon managed to take all his pain away

And he’s forever grateful that he saw her there

And took a chance on love once again that day

They’ve been cruising life’s highway together

For many truly wonderful romantic years now

And he shudders to think what he might have become

If he hadn’t had the courage to brake and slow down

Don't let some hell bent heart
Leave you bitter
When you come close to selling out

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance

I hope you dance”

Our lives can either be unbelievably damaged or inexpressibly redeemed by JUST ONE... this is delightfully told, Ed, and I hope that it will encourage those who might be tempted to say "Never Again!" to reconsider and to not only hope but EXPECT that they will get to meet the one special person who will turn their life around... perhaps more so than if they had met before. Any excuse to get the dancin shoes on, at any rate!! And you always manage to get a furry friend in there somewhere... Kayote Kate xx

It's those last two lines that hold the real power-punch here, for me, Little Eddie. It's one thing to relive pain and say it out loud, but it's entirely cool and poetic to set it to such vibrant, gut-wrenching, gloriously joyful verse, as you've done. This was a biographical piece of magic, indeed. katy xox
