Hey, Terri,
I saw you on the evening news.
There's a lot of noise around you,
But that, I think you knew.
If you are truly as gone as they say,
Trust me, that's okay,
You smiled at your Mom,
And you made her day.

I saw Mike too,
The other day,
Talking to the camera,
With his lawyer on display.
I want to believe him,
I truly do,
But he's got a lot on his mind,
And I don't think it's you.

In the cafeteria at work,
You were on every tongue.
The song of logic and morality
Is quietly sung.
Some are willing,
I hate to say,
To pull your tube,
And let you fade away.

Others say they know
 What's best for you.
They say you'll never wake up,
So what's the use.
Others cite the law of God,
And how life must be preserved.
Me...I'd just like to do what's right,
And let you have what you deserve.

First of all...
Send Mike on down the road,
And tell his lawyers to disperse.
He's done his time,
His for better or for worse.
He's not so bad,
Even if he lied,
For quite a few years,
I really think he tried.

Tell the Congress
To head back home,
With grandstanding like that,
You'd rather go it alone.

Tell George Bush,
And Jebediah too,
That you'll take it from here,
If they'll replace your tube.

And tell your Mom,
And your Daddy too,
They who love you,
Above all the rules,
That you've never felt
A love so strong,
And that's what's nourished you
All along.

They all think it's them,
Who'll control your life,
Certainly it's them
Who've created the strife.
But as for when,
You live or die,
And since it's so hard
To simplify,
Just put your heart
In His loving hands,
And know,
That all will be as it should be.

I don't even want to say what I think of Michael Schaivo. His wife is worth more to him dead than alive. He wants her out of the way because he has another family that isn't tied to a bed. I wonder how Terri would have treated Michael, should their situations have been reversed? This is a beautiful poem. Michelle

Rhyme and rhythm is superb, Frank. YOu are able to take a delicate issue and give it integrity and grace.

Very well done!

You did a good job with this. Your use of rhyme was solid throughout and your broke it at the end in a way that made the message more powerful. ~~Nordette
