a squirrel in a tree
is sumpin' ta' see
as he or she
sits in a tree
and looks at me

first on the ground
it looks around
without a sound
to see what can be found
to eat,
please no meat

a nut or two
yeah, that would do
thank you
and thank you, too
for the clue

and so on a hunch
i give it a bunch
of sumpin' ta' crunch
sumpin' ta' munch
for lunch

then in a hurry
that squirrel does scurry
with it's tail so brown & furry
so fast my sight gets blurry
but don't worry

'cause once in the tree
that squirrel looks at me
to see
that i still be
where i sat
right where i'm at

thru branch & limb
thru all of them
that squirrel does fly
'till way up high
i catch it's eye

as it munches
and as it crunches
the bunches
of nuts for it's lunches

then down the tree
that squirrel will flee
'till it be
back on the ground
lookin' around
for what might be found

and if i make a sound
that squirrel is bound
to flee
back up into that tree
ta' look at me
to see what it can see
to see just where i be

yes, a squirrel in a tree
is a sight ta' see
a sight that pleases me
a sight that fills my heart with glee
that squirrel there in the tree

I can tell by your topics you're a man after nature's own heart. You captured the essence of this squirrel brilliantly. I could see its nervous energy:

then down the tree
that squirrel will flee
'till it be
back on the ground
lookin' around
for what might be found

Great rhythm here.

Your writing captures well the essence of whatever you decide to write about.
