Reclusive be the Poet…

Hidden from view,

This poet one of the few,

He doth hide in his personal zoo,

Failure to do so could result in his acquiescing to his taboos…

If only you understood,

Then this poet could relate his tale,

But forever and always he must hide behind his veil,

Better is he like Jonah to be swallowed by a whale…

His wall of silence insulated against the outside world,

No sound does penetrate nor depart his desolate piece of space,

He sees outside his self-built fences, a life of love and happiness,

A life he could lead if he could allow his flags of discontent to be unfurled,

But his own memories of his past he cannot erase,

Better is he to live as a recluse, than in prison in disgrace…

I like this one. My question is if a poet is reclusive how would the outside world see him? He will only be known by his works. Is it ok like that?

Anyway, good write, ed.
