How my mouth watered then
with taste of deep desire
at the sight of your fleshy fingertips
lingering on your lower lip. Slowly
your eyes radiated
a mesmerizing glow
that called me home to you
that first magical night
beneath a bed of stars.

How I longed to drop down,
abandoning time’s law
to remove layers of separation.
Oh, that there could have been blessed union,
becoming two bodies
tangled up together
in the passion flower
moist with dawn’s dewy damp,
selves revealed in splendor
beneath a pulsing sun.

How tonight, with the great
divide between us, split
heart and mind and spirit wailing with wild
wanting you to want me too, I will bathe
in cool splashes of rain
and feel longing linger.
How I will reach toward you
and oneness we once were
and ache to stretch myself
beneath your white hot realm.
