Dedicated to Pope John Paul II

Too often we are standing in a special light. And don't miss it untill we either step away from it. Or it is taken from us...

We are but dust in time.
Each clinging to a dream.
Looking into the distance.
At our final sunset.

Yet amongst the dust.
From time to time you'll find.
A small glowing ember.
Burning with the love of God.

It is from such a small spark.
That the world may find warmth.
And words to help them on their way.
Through the darkness of our days.

To often this light is taken away.
And we are left shaking our heads.
Afraid of what we have lost.
And unsure of the path ahead.

Yet we have been given a gift.
A brief moment in time.
When we were imparted light.
To rekindle our hearts glow.

John Paul was such a man.
Gifted with the love of God.
For all his fellow travellers.
Giving to the very end of breath.

When we next meet again.
We will each be able to thank him.
For his life of dedication and faith.
In the God of all the dust of this earth.

so glad I saw this title on your main poems page.... I read a slew of tributes last week but this really touched my heart tonight. I think your image of not knowing the light we stand in is so "on"... thanks for this, Dawn

This is yet another beautiful tribute to him; another peer that writes of him and thinks of him as I do.

I pray that "ember" will be kept live by the peoples of all the world.u We so needed his prayers and insight to what could be, and should be - tolerance, and love, and caring responsibility for all God's creatures...human or otherwise!

Beautiful and worthy tribute to John Paul II

This was needed by me today. I carry with me a heavy heart but a peaceful one where the Pope lies.

Splendid tribute Rev! You caught what was his most beautiful gift that of sharing himself with all, as the light of Christ shone within and drew all to him. Beautifully done! He shall truly be missed!
