Orphic prayer, whispered,
Shapes in a sentient atmosphere, archaic
And pulled through an intense field
Of starlight and shattered, white columns,
Like the bones remaining of burial,
Of collapsing graves from a time before years
Streamed golden and visceral beyond salvation,
Before a way through winged ceremony
And the ecstatic axis upon which faith revolves.
Fire, like a flower, obscures revolution and
Blossoms within an attenuated, scarred face,
In the delicate hands resting upon metallic strings,
In the harp, delayed, silent, mourning,
Given to the seminal, azure air, thick and gravid,
Birth to winding vines of leashed sonatas,
And the chords of oblivion, decorated
With dreamed, jeweled, amber sound.

Collect shafts of pain, sheaves
Of perfect knowledge, thought empty of matter,
Surrounding vivid reflections of temptation.
Contain with the spheres of language, the music,
Focused like light through a convex lens.
Tie the expanding darkness of stone and river
With phrased wires, with the still life of song,
Breaking lamentation beneath the earth.

Flickering torchlight,
Pagan temples in the air,
Forested slopes of terraced mountains,
The olive tree, labyrinthine branches,
Phrased eulogies in song,
Purple cloth and gold of the East,
Reigning among bleached marble,
Palaces with red columns,
Black sail on the open ship,
A sea of dark wings and froth,
Time in template, stopped, shivering,
Tombs leaved with tapestry,
Soft anarchy of the cities,
Peninsula of mountainous, grieving spaces,
The lyre and oceanic sunlight,
Lush tales of voyage,
Muse of the air,
Winds of time,
Platonic salvation.
