Groan and forget it. - Jessamyn West

It was never considered on principle

Youth believes it's invincible

Willful, staunch, and stubborn.......never kept!!

For as the days roll into years

Age becomes the goal premiere

As birthdays are embraced......our time is set!!

What once fit, within our hands

Can diminish......or expand

Depending on our purpose.....or intent

When the misplaced

Youth has flown.....without trace

Leaving us to wonder.......where it went!!

If now was then, how would things change

Stay the same.........or rearrange

Assuming.....maybe.....possibly......WHY NOT???

As we ferment, and stale with age

Deeds can shuffle...dim....and fade

It's a blessing.........TO FORGET!!!

(Just poking fun at myself here)

... Fermented, stale AND addled, I am afraid. And being around ageing parents is like a return to a reversal of childhood... all the paraphenalia that litters the bathrooms much like having babies around again. Tell you what, though... when I get supermarket checkout rage, I shall look forward to my hair being just a tad greyer so I can lie on the floor and kick my legs and scream like a (9)2-year old again!! Don't the old'uns always dig you in the back with their baskets in the queue... like they're in a race or summat... Reminds me of the Jenny Joseph (?) poem about wearing purple and odd sox and running your walking stick all along the railings.... oh yes... I shall be AWFUL!! :)))) LUV IT!! Kate xx

Well, now... if we decant it carefully, so that some superfluous residues will stay in the old bottle, port wine is much, much better when it's got a certain age! ;0)
Mmmmmmmmmmm... aaahhhhh! Truly! :0)

nice oxymoron in the title ... age is like a good wine whose taste depends on how we breath ...

Senility is a valid point of view, Anita. This is a wonderful write, though I am still not going to admit that I am fermented OR stale. harrumpffff

LOL! Love the graphic! Maybe so! Certain things are better forgotten. Strain the wisdom and throw out the rest. Great write, A...
