It is hard to see the light when immersed in darkness (metaphorically speaking). This is something I wrote while thinking about this. There is nothing original in my thinking but it was a good to write. Hope you enjoy.

If we  recognise the transient nature of pain

and we open our hands to release

those things that would hold us

in a perpetual state of darkness

we may discover that through brokenness,

wholeness may be found.

After a dark night we find joy in the dawn

When a tempestuous storm has passed

we rejoice in the birth of a rainbow

and in the azure clarity of a newly washed sky.

Beyond all grief there lies a path to happiness

If we constantly look back while walking forwards

we are likely to trip over unexpected obstacles

Yes, there is a time to stand still, a time to reflect

and at this point we can look in all directions.

It is important to remember where we have been

and still keep our eyes fixed on where we are going

Though at times we may feel vulnerable,

hardship faced brings deep inner strength

It is wrong to deny our feelings and emotions

but also wrong for them to always govern our choices

Peace is not that elusive state to be pursued,

it is something entered into even in the midst of chaos

by stilling the mind and opening the heart

to the greatest healer of them all - Love.

However, before we can love others,

we need to learn to love and accept ourselves.

Recognizing our fragility and imperfection

and at once our abilities and uniqueness.

We are all valuable and have our special place

in this vast cosmic mechanism we call The Universe.

Quite insightful meanderings. This is deeply introspective, and holds much meaning for me. And wrong though it may be to allow our feelings and emotions to govern our choices "completely," still... we should never make choices without "feeling," and solely based on logic. For as we all know, logic and love are worlds apart. Your writing makes me think ... and feel; and that is as it should be. -- Jeff

Hello Chanti dear. I was in a constant state of perpetual darkness, for many, many years. I never knew what love meant, even though I had heard the word used many times over. but now my temptuous storm has passed, and I have entered into peace, with all of my friends here. Chanit dear, this poem speaks out to me, and is the best advice I could ever get. The authors here at AD, have given me this advice over, and over again, and I am trying really hard to accept the things I cannot change, and have the courage to change the things I can, and I wish That God, through His Son Jesus, will help me to gain the wisdom, to know the difference. This is a very decent write Chanti, thnx for the advice. May the Lord Jesus bless you, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your little sister, Barbie

Actually, one can better see the stars
when there is no other surrounding light.

It is true that we must all learn to love ourselves.

A very wise and strong message. We need to face the direction in which we walk, otherwise we'll never know when we reach our destination!
Excellent write!
