Clear Night Sweet Incense

Under the open skies of this clear night
Sweet incense burns rice is almost ready
Out my back window the stars shine so bright
They seem to pin the universe steady
Life can be crazy but it is all right

I stay away from striving people and
Only bother with souls who understand
This truth my friend my foe you must let go
When will you learn to play it as it lies?
Stop asking me these things I cannot know

Think for yourself and you will realize
This is no competition not a race
Nothing matters but love and learning here
Forget your bitterness forget your fear
Live all you can and do it with some grace

Then when your life is over all is done
Under the open skies of this clear night
I hope that you can say you had some fun
That what you could not know you just let go
Life can be crazy but it is all right
