Sensory Deprivation
a long time-out,
longer than most,
a real jolt,
and behavior modification
could be harsh,
those tenements
looming like icicles,
the elevators trapped between floors,
parents edgy,
detached from real love,
a feeling, an emotion,
stifled by contempt
for authorities,
for the death-like masks
of infants flung far
away because
they had no way
to cry out,
and no taxes,
nothing from the rich,
nothing sacred any more
but money.
