"Formalist poet if not last then least / Ecce sacerdos: I give you the priest"

Ecce Sacerdos: Apologia Pro Vita Sua

The cat on my lap is ready to nap
The tea in my cup has gotten quite cold
Life once exploded with dazzle and snap
But all that sort of thing (not I) got old

Before I die I must yet one more book
Make of what I have learned that I might look
Less foolish than I once appeared somehow
Before I came to know what I know now

All learned the hard way and in God's good time
Perfectionistic meter rhythm rhyme
And all the mystery of liturgy
Which (just between us) is the key to me

Formalist poet if not last then least
Ecce sacerdos: I give you the priest
Living the riddle of celibacy
And not by vow but just by now my way

The one I loved left me yet far away
The sun ascends to smile another day

Why he left, I shall never know why.
You are a beautiful person, inside and out.
I am a bisexual if no one has figured that out
yet. Take care.
