Sleep fades, seeps uncurling
like the spreading fingers
of an unclenched dawn.

The deadening fist
in which I'm held
loosens its protection,
takes aim with fresh projection,

Propels me towards the arc of the sun;
Shoots me like the stars of a gun.
I become

the semi-eclipse
of the Face of Fire
by gravitational pull
of thought's desire;

the smile that appears
on the curve of his lips;
a satellite orbiting round his hips.

of the Midnight Sun.

Good Grief, K-K-K-Kate! Yep, you've even stuttered my thoughts here. The first verse, alone, caused me pause and ever the indulging self that I am, I just pondered and gazed at that awhile... then dessert! The rest of this metaphorical wonder embedded itself in my mind... BUT... since I am subject to "senior moments" now and then, I will clear an entire shelf in my library for this fantastic festival of writing. It's my new favorite, to say the least... probably until you write another one. Sigh... You must believe me when I tell you that this poem sits all by itself in my admiration room.

God, you're good! katy xoxoxox <--- (extras)!

This poem is out of this world; I like the way you used outer space as part of wonderful and unique usage of words for descriptive purposes. Well done.
