This is just something I threw together as I took a break from planting.

Spring Ditty

I’m makin’ wishes on the stars

Dancin’ 'neath the moon

Howlin’ like a lonely wolf

And croonin’ out a tune

It’s what I do in springtime

When all the earth renews

I feel myself just bustin’ loose

As I’m kickin’ off my shoes

The sun is playing peek-a-boo

Midst clouds all puffy white

I’ll be swayin’ in the hammock

As the stars come out tonight

The buds are on the roses

And the tulips in full bloom

Johnny-Jump-Up’s smiling face

Chased away the winter’s gloom

The feral cats are screamin’

They're fightin’ for their mate

While the lady birds are nestin’

On eggs of unknown fate

Puttin’ cherry blossoms in my hair

Claimin’ this day as mine

For the glory of the spring is here

And I’m feelin’ oh, so fine

I love anything to do with Spring! While catching up on some of your work, I found this one to be so in tune with my feelings. Don't think I'd look right with cherry blossoms in my hair, but I'll go along with every bit of this invitation to Spring. - Bill

I love the zest for life and energy here - and also the capturing of the essence of spring into something so personally fuelling and transforming: like you just had it for breakfast! It must be wonderful to live that close to the land... at least, when the sun is shining and the air is sweet with a fresh and heavy fragrance, that is! But I reckon you would do equal justice to the vigour of a belting storm upon your skin, as well, Sherry. Can just picture you with those cherry blossoms in your hair... come to think of it, I think I always see them there anyway! Love this earthchild, barefoot write, thank you. Kate xx

Sherry,

I enjoyed this...it was beautiful in my area today. I was
finally able to open all the windows in the house and
let the fresh air and light in! Spring is so clearing and
uplifting!

This is sweet, Sherry. I love Spring too, but would love it a lot more if I didn't have tremendous allergy-related issues with the growth coming on the trees. The pollen is enough to do me in, sometimes.
This poem is really precious and a wonderful little tribute to a delightful season, indeed. It's the last season in Texas prior to the summer heat!
Thanks for sharing this.
