for Chanti from Surrey

"For honor still means something to one heart / ... / Fellow traveler in this poetic art / In your noble breast may sterling ever shine"

Sterling Heart

for Chanti from Surrey

What a bad day in a mad life this has been
How utterly exhausted I am now
Slander and libel with folly in between
When just as I thought all hope had ended
Came a flicker to keep hope alive somehow
I found myself befriended and defended

The Union Jack is flying high just now
Here in this distant Californian spring
Once defamed and damaged I am mended
Because an English girl in offering
To God to decency to loyalty
Put her good name to mine defending me

For honor still means something to one heart
And hers of sterling in defense of mine
Makes me want to travel and never to part
From one lighted from within with light divine
Fellow traveler in this poetic art
In your noble breast may sterling ever shine

Thanks 4 being a kind human Chanti to another in need- that's what I believe we are on this Earth for -indeed-. Steven,

A beautifully penned ode to a friend--you are indeed blessed to have Chanti in your corner. I'm there, too. :)

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla. :)

Chanti from Surrey sounded so odd. It was indeed my birth place and a lot of my family still live in England but I feel very much like Chanti out of Africa. ;-)

I did not expect a poem to be written in my honour and am deeply touched that you would write this. I did nothing less than any good friend would do in the same situation. It hurts me to see injustice wherever I may see it. The internet is so filled with traps and innocent victims fall into them all too easily. I'm sorry that you were one of these. Take heart at the support you are getting.
