... Makin with the "comfort poetry" again; some more Ben & Jerry's designed to keep me breathing... :)) K xx

SPEAK

Based on Solomon's Song Of Songs

Speak to me softly
your words yet unspoken;
unlock you heart to me,
unveil your mind.

Let the mask slip
and facades all be broken -
as deep calls to deep
our souls meeting, we'll find.

Let us reclaim
what was lost there in Eden,
before words' confusion
caused twisting and shame.

Bare your soul naked
without fear or reckoning:
speak truth with longing
and call out my name.

Love's life is honest -
no guile or deceit -
with truth that's expressed
and feelings well-shown;

What is yet needed
to make us complete
is to know you in love
and in love to be known.

Kate,

This is so soft and romantic! I especially like this line:
"as deep calls to deep" There is a whole relationship
in those five words!

Communication is the bridge between two hearts.
Understanding is what we find as we meet
somewhere near the middle.

I adore that final stanza ... absolutely beautiful!

I'd forgotten the famous phrase "deep calls to deep." Thank you for reminding me. I think I have a poem enttitled "Speak" as well. Getting the lover to speak up and say what he really means and really intends...ahhhh. Ugh! It seems the sincere ones drive us crazy and do a little dance to make a little love and the players speak loudly and mean absolutely nothing; so, by the time the real one comes with the "real thing" and speaks up we're afraid to believe anything he says. LOL. Loved the poem, Kate. ~~Nordette

You have taken the deepest commitments that we humans share and wrapped them all in a gorgeous coccoon of true love and romance. It just doesn't get any better than this, Kate. So soft and lovely are your verses...cotton candy to the soul.
Take care,
Sherry
