The Way

The way everybody loves you,
how could you have seen me?

Why should you have cared
to feel more of the same love
that flies at you like a magnetic needle
      swings true north?

The way nobody sees me
how could I have loved you?

Why should I have dared
to think you’re any different
than everybody else who comes and goes, just
      walks on by?

The way some folks talk about it
how could we have found grace?

Why should we have fared
any better than we did,
undeserving as we were, obliged to fall
      straight through hell?

The way they hooked us, reeled us in,
how could we have cut loose?

Why should we have stared
down a test of faith, swam past
conventional wisdom back into waters
      rich in trust?

ah, that elusive trust ... something sought after but so seldom found ... yet to be "rich in trust" is a noble undertaking worth sharing ... this poem made me think and that's what poems are for, to learn to trust other's thoughts ...

Ahh Dawn, true love will face anything...
to a point... poetic enigma, creatively expressed...

Love,
