This is an answer to a poet's challenge letter from Cedric written in hillbilly Arkansas Slang!

Youn’s letter shore was a surprise
 We’ns  don’t git much mail
Mable said why it was here at sunrise.
She was some kinda  happy, I could tell.

We jest stay up her in this ole holler
Folks air afeared to come this way,
Ole Blue gits clean out of his collar,
If’n they come up the path night er day!

When Mabel heared Mattie Mae had a sled
She tolt me to git her one or start fetchin
I’s been thankin bout that thar wood shed,
So’s I’m afixin’ to move the kitchen.

Last winter, we’ns had a big snow
Hit layed around here til nearly sprang
But, by golly, hit got rid of them bugs,
Now Mabel hain’t afeared of a stang!

Is you’ns younguns livin’ thar with us’ns?
I waz athankin they done went and left home,
Jess & Duey  growed up and went to fussin’
The holler twern’t enuf  fer  them to roam.

One day jest fore sprang plantin time
Them boys gits a hankerin to take off
Mabel frets they waz still in their prime
And should stilt be  playin up in the loft.

We don’t raze much of nothin’ nomore
Whats’ with them boys gone and all
Ole Bessie’s tard and has a sore lag
Me and Mabel air jest waitin’ fer the call.

The Lord shore took a liken to me and Mabel
We’s both been tolerable through the years
Taint nary a thang much happin’ to tell
We says er prayers fer we’s know he hears.

Cedric, we’s best say er goodbyes fer now
Youn’s write again  when youn’s can
We shore will be waitin ter hear from ya,
This letter here is from Mabel and her Man.
