The days and nights have came and gone,
"Mom, I'm sixteen years old, I'm grown."
If only you'd listened to what you'd been told,
maybe you'd taken another road.
l'll never forget those beautiful eyes
looking at me saying, "Good bye.
"Mom, I'm leaving home, leave me alone.
I'm sixteen years old, I'm too old for you to hold.
" Why couldn't you have listened to right from wrong?
It's hard for me to grasp what I've been told
through all the moans and groans
as you lie there so hard and cold.
All I can think about is what you'd say,
"Mom, I'm grown, I'm old enough to be on my own."
Now, you are with God,
sitting with him on his throne.
