Love does not pass this way often, like youth itself it fades to from light to dark. The curtain is now down.

Do you remember the cabin on the lake
Holding on to the fire as the earth did shake
Young as the robins in the nest in the tree
We were just the inexperience of growing free

Got a call this morning
From an old friend going south
Seen the water falling at the creek mouth
From cavern in the hill side
looked out on the land

Wished I could be there
Toast the world as it fell
New that you would answer
Tell them all they were going to hell

Tempted to drink a toast to you dear
But the thought faded fast
as I remembered the passion
We were wind and rain at last
Thunder in the valley
temptation in the hills
We were tempting fate
nothing left to love or kill

You were the reason
why the stars from the sky fell
Burning as hot as our bodies
claiming fire straight from hell
No vision or a ghost upon the plain
just me and you babe
Drinking rotgut whiskey
both of us quite insane

Do you remember the cabin on the lake
Holding on to the fire as the earth did shake
Young as the robins in the nest in the tree
We were just the inexperience of growing free

Come on Dad mom is waiting
it is time to leave
Dropped a flower by your grave
wiped a tear on my sleeve
Here is to loving
it was much more
than we would ever see
Poured a fifth of whiskey
underneath your favorite tree
