Poetry is a carnivore:
All sharp teeth and claws
And hot, foetid breath
That pounces
When I least expect it -
I am not prepared
For the surprise sneak attack
Of a starving Muse
She drags me into the bush -
And yet, I go willingly
If I survive the encounter
What a story I'll have to tell!

(c) 2005, Karla Dorman.

Blimey... now there's a thought!! A spectacle I would like to witness, Karla! And report on!! Love this turn around and thwarting of our received ideas about the gentility of the Muse. Come to think of it... you are dead right! She arm wrestles me constantly, but I am sure as hell not going to give in to her over some things... WAY tooo provocative and "out there"!! LOL :)) Kate xx
