A day set apart
To define a start
Separates pain from laughter
A seminal event
And glorious moment
A day forever seared
When love was real and clear
Visual synaptic traces
That memory never erases
Moments of clarity
Of simplistic sincerity
A day like no other
When we were sister and brother
Suddenly you were gone
Before another neuron
Fired a volley of images
Of your last pilgrimage
Points in time I believe
Do nothing to relieve
The pain of loved ones departed
From those who remain brokenhearted
Remember if you must
When loved ones turn to dust
