Mother’s Day a time to remember
Happy and sad memories from January through December
A warm hand removes the fear
Opens our hearts from one held so dear
Watches our first steps with pride and joy
A magical moment for girls and boys

Carpools and teacher conferences galore
Picks up each night toys off the floor
Reads stories before we sleep
And prays with us our souls to keep
Says little but is always there
Soothes broken hearts with love and prayer

A phone call would make her day
Give back and let her have her say
Photographs and cards surround her now
Where once wet children ran with towels
Be careful, call me, and eat all your food
Do for others and don’t be rude

For mothers departed we share the same thoughts
Our first teachers of life’s shoulds and oughts
A kiss on the forehead, a caress of the cheek
Soothes past hurts and removes the bleak
A mother lives forever within our hearts
For she is the one who gave us our start
