Living on the outside

Looking through this lens called life

Running from connections

Turning every truth to lies

Tearing at emotion

Till all emotion in me dies

Looking in the mirror

Screaming up to God I cry

In my darkest moments

Distant voices call my name

Reaching out to find them

Searching through an endless maze

Emptiness still finds me

Cursed by my existence

Eyes turned up to God I pray

Free me from these notions

Life’s surely more than this

Learning from the yearning

Churning deep inside no more

Void of love’s desire

Blindly searching for life’s door

Darkness so enslaves me

A spirit crushed upon the floor

Helpless now and broken

Whispering to God once more
