Eagles and Bogies

Eagles and Bogies

jumpin’ jeepers dangerous days
followed by window fixing evenings.

so the street seems deserted,
most folks on porches screened
from errant missiles,
the practice fairways
slicing and hooking geraniums
from pots momma bought
at flea markets.

straight drives get applause and radio
announcements boom distances like
racetrack bookies cheering horses.

no one cares any more,
the white orbs clog up sewers,
robins mistake
blue balls for eggs and
broken drivers litter the uncut
grass like mileage markers
on super highways.

politicians promise fences
rising from the ground like Berlin walls,
but real estate agents make killings as
new owners pull up stakes while
birdies, eagles and bogies
flood scorecards
like recipes for disaster.

Larry,

I love the way you write--one can not just skim over your words, they must digest them slowly and let the hidden meanings appear like a mirage--excellent write yet again!!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla. :)
