Who are THEY…?

THEY tell us how to dress,

THEY tell us how to live,

THEY tell us what to eat,

THEY tell us what is neat…

THEY say to do your best,

THEY say to pass your test,

THEY say to not get stressed,

THEY say to not get depressed…

THEY want us all to follow our dreams,

THEY want us all to never at others scream,

THEY want us all to be part of the team,

THEY want us all to have good self-esteem…

THEY wish for us to be pleasant and happy,

THEY wish for us to smile and not act crappie,

THEY wish for us to have style and be snappy,

THEY wish for us to never be unhappy…

My question is just WHO THE HELL “THEY” ARE…?

"They" are everyone ... except "us" or "I" LOL! Nice creative write, Ed! I enjoyed.

We be "They"! I think when we say "They Say" we believe it to be the collective majority who believe it to be so. All this doesn't make what "They Say" correct, just the accepted norm on whatever it is. I am not sure if I understand what I just wrote here, but I am certain that 'THEY" will.
Take care,

"They" are conformity, frightened of the day when even "they" might (MIGHT, MIND YOU) have an original thought, a creative moment, a need to be different. "They" walk among us, and my dear Eddie M, you needn't look very far to find 'them'... "they" are US! Egads!

Even kids with green hair, 47 rings in 47 body parts, who think that Emmenem is DEEP, are conforming... if you want to drive 'them' into the sea, wringing their hands, just tell the truth, believe in yourself, like yourself, and (this is the best part) always allow others' to just be themselves... works every time. Great piece. (Were you the model for Rodin's The Thinker?) hehe... katy xox

Obviously - 'They' are our nasty wives, mothers, sisters, and female significant others - who love to give 'Us' a hard time. Bummer.
