Flames fan sacred memories
Once walls, now ashes
Piled in spaces once filled
With lifeís artifacts of reality
When children ruled this place
Now cremated with wood and stucco

Odious decayed flesh filters over concrete
A stone fireplace remains intact
The only semblance of a home
Once occupied by family
NaÔve and simple
Oblivious to the evil without

Tragedies translucent and mercurial
Predictable as long as predators
Prey upon the innocent
Content to live out their dreams
In a nebulous Neverland for the multitude
Slaughtered by the evil one

Non sequiturs in a predestined life
Try to make sense of chance events
But a speck in a mysterious galaxy
Who seek meaning from random encounters
Try if you must, survivors of fate
But donít be discouraged in the end

You have crafted some excellent images. The opening is awesome, capturing my attention and generating an expectation for what is to comeÖ. That expectation is met. Nice write.
