A tribute to our soldiers past and present, may we all salute you this memorial day and throughout the year.

We left the familiarity

Of the place we call home.

We left the loved one's

We cherish so deeply.

We left to fight

A fight that at times

Seems to slowly strip us

Of all the things we were,

We can never go home

The same,

Seeing anyone killed

Is enough to tare

At the most hardened of hearts

But we fight

Because we have to

Freedom does not come free

And we are willing to lay down

Our lives

For our families.

your words say all what the brave men and women have to go through in war time; and our prayers are with them and their families. god bless our president and our military might, and let us give thanks for them this memorial day! and god bless you too, michelle! very well done poem; brava!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in tx., karen lynn. :D
