A tribute to our soldiers past and present, may we all salute you this memorial day and throughout the year.

We left the familiarity

Of the place we call home.

We left the loved one's

We cherish so deeply.

We left to fight

A fight that at times

Seems to slowly strip us

Of all the things we were,

We can never go home

The same,

Seeing anyone killed

Is enough to tare

At the most hardened of hearts

But we fight

Because we have to

Freedom does not come free

And we are willing to lay down

Our lives

For our families.

A fine tribute to those that have served, and continue to serve, our Nation. As a veteran, I salute you for remembering!
