Ever find a word that seemed totally unlikely, then tried to make something of it?

If you wish to use a great word

that your status will inflate

get a load of this one -

it's discombobulate.

I couldn't find its meaning

I looked in diction'ries two

Exactly how to use it,

I haven't got a clue

I picture someone swimming

with a lifebelt filled with air

bobbing about in the water

with a discombobulating stare.

Maybe it's a desperate wish

to go the other way -

or then perhaps it's something else

I really couldn't say.

I can only wonder and try to speculate

What the hell I'm doing

when I discombobulate.

Maybe its what a doctor does

when he operates

and you come out with pieces gone

when he discombobulates.

It might be when you're cooking

with no onions in the stew -

that can be disconcerting -

and discombobulating too

Maybe you should be alone

make sure you isolate -

You don't want people watching

when you discombobulate.

But I'll leave it up to you folk

it might even seal your fate

perhaps you're growing wiser

when you discombobulate.
