a hole in the wall
where a piano
used ta' be
an empty space i see
bare & white
that's all
doesn't feel right

least it went
ta' a worthy cause
to my oldest daughter
who loved her
and who she loved too
my mom would be proud
hell, she's shoutin' outloud
i guess

i can still
her singin' softly
playin' that old piano
don't you know

i remember when
dad bought it
it was quite the hit
i's never thought it
she'd sought it

if it's gotta' go
then let it go
then go there
it needs to be
and then let it be

but then
an empty space
a place you can't erase
where that old piano was
where mom was

just a hole in the wall
it never will be a that's all

a white bare wall
after all
these years
i shed my tears
and i hears...

The Tennessee Waltz
Amazing Grace
church hymnals
fill the space
there against that wall
an empty hole
that's not all

guess i always will recall

her shinin' eyes
so dark brown
her gentle smile
could always be found
her slender fingers
her memory lingers
against a hole in the wall

but she's passed on
she is gone
and so is the piano
each to a better place
each to a new space
but you can't never replace
nor erase
the old memories
no place like histories

now that piano be's
in memories yet to be's
we'll just wait & sees
that piano's history

there's a bare wall
that's all
i see
but i see too
a memory or two
it ain't blank
nor barin'
it's just starin'
ain't no hole but the whole
that completes the circle

just a hole in the wall
but that's not all...
