Some fires linger forever

smokescreens rise

from the center of the  courtyards

billow from a hidden purpose;

polluting the marble surface

of our irritated "I's"

too late we realize that we cannot

trust the images

behind the ceremonial screen,

we cannot trust those

who carve out

constitutional peacepipes from

fossilized bones that were

exumed from holy ground

and purchased at the dollar store

in the close out bin

but we watch with reddened eyes

the flick-flick-flick

of political embers

landing in the crib of civilization,

sparking daily fires

as the breathless ones

suck in the sooty flames of oppression

with their thorn pricked palms

covering their speechless mouths

watching uninvited tourist

order the destruction of the temples

of peace, knowing that these visitors

have obviously ignored the exit signs,

disturbing the original heavenly order;

watching aliens gods build timeshares

for the red-tie members

in the House of Fools

In House Of (Sin) Political Fools--Excellent!

Painful, profoundly heartbreaking poetry; yet those in the house of fools care not one whit. Shameful!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla. :(

This is so well written. It cuts to my heart because it was so wrong and I was here watching my friends die.
