Sail into the night
perversions avail
may cause you fright

Sail into the night
lost souls wail
at the winds spite

Sailing ship into waters
frought with strife

Sailors unleash their sails
the mast is beaten
broke by the sea's lust

The sails torn by sorrow
hoping to find their lover

Sailors of lost souls
will dream of tommorrow
and the lonesome wind
that tosses the sea
waves that swallow
the pain of heartbreak
to right their wrong.

Danger now begins
laughing out loud in our heads
to make perverse the wind
down deep into the din

Strangers meet upon
the waters and the sea
covers their hearts and cast
their souls into the breaks

Storm clouds on the horizon
create the night frights
that leave the lost souls
alone and the night is dark

Sailing the waters tonight
longing for tomorrows light
and forever the sea
washes over the bow
and releases their sorrows

Sail into the night
lost souls find hope
from waves of pure hearts
nothing can keep them apart
from their true journey

Sailing tonight
searching for their lovers
without any fright
with a pure heart
only then can they love
and feel the sea's delight

This encompasses all of life, Dale. Epical and haunting! We are born of the sea, it supports and nourishes us while we live. It bears our sorrows and echoes our anger. We sail on a ship of dreams--all lost souls in a spiteful sea. Until love brings us to harbor and the sea quiets. An awesome beauty!

A nearly mystical flow of desire, passion, and longing fill these lines until they move through the reader like waves pushed along by the music of the voice of the poet. Beautiful indeed.

Dale,

You've made me want to go on another cruise...sigh! Wait a minnit, I don't have to, all I have to do is ready this poem...and look at my pictures...and relive it all over again! Masterfully directed--sail on, Captain!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla. :)

This is quite a different canvas for you, Dale, and your imagery is just as strong. You are certainly adept at the depth of sustained metaphor you are able to bring to the gamut of human love-emotions. I like the way you saw this one through... like sailing through the eye of a storm... neat! Don't think my sealegs are that good, though... think I am a bit of a fair-weather sailor... think?! KNOW for certain sure! :)) TY Kate xx
