How severe is your addiction?

what's the point in crying out loud

when no one cares to heed

the wailings of the innermost voice?

the voice that learned to just

deal with disappointment

within earshot of hecklers

who disregard their promises?

if it be so that all

emotional investments

in the life we live are best serv'd

when we forget how to cry,

for to cry is to waste time

getting the attention that

we thought we never deserv'd,

why throw cookie crumbs of regret

to those who want the loaf

all to themselves. . .?

why tempt the mouths

of the greedy ones

who have vow'd to pretend

to love you, when all they desire

is to entrap your birthright of peace?

Great poem, Cynth'ya! I just love the finale " ... why tempt the mouths of the greedy ones who have vow'd to pretend to love you, when all they desire is to entrap your birthright of peace?" Sums everything up so well!

Simply beautiful!

God bless,

Sandie.

A passionate boom of outrage straight from the soul. TABLE SCRAPS reminds us that compassion is not about indulging one's individual sense of pity or self-centered sorrow but about stepping away from the mirror and sharing the pain of another so as to help make it easier for them to bear. The truth and wisdom in this poem come loaded with real fire and real muscle.
