I stand upon the mountainside
And slowly sip the view
Of the glorious valley far below
Where runs the river through.
It is a verdant vista
So full of what is life
And high upon the mountainside
How insignificant the strife.

And I beside the water spilling,
Taste life from its fountain...
Surrounded by the walls of stone
Carved out beneath this mountain.
This valley echoes life and peace
Its winds a gentle hand...
To lift my eyes to see your view
From on the cliff you stand.

The distance here that separates
My vision from the sound
Is not as great as it might seem
For my thoughts to it do bound
Though unknown and far away
And as yet unfound.
I'll stay upon this mountainside
An extension of that ground.

I whisper through the caverns
Where my words mix with the breeze...
So soft the green blades under foot
That lay beneath the trees.
The water stretching out before us
Offers us her song...
Her ancient rythym never fading
Always rushing on.

From atop this tor I hear
The echoes say to me
It is the water touching land
That gives you what you see.
It is the cool, clear water
From which life shall be
The water that doth trickle through
The mountain thence to thee.

So far away from me you stand
And yet we share this fountain...
That carries life within its motion
Flowing down this mountain.
I offer back the gentle breeze
To lift my words to you...
That we may share the beauty of
This river running through.

This is a collaboration I did a few months back with fellow poet, Michael Bahm. He wrote the first, third and fifth stanza's and I the 2nd, 4th, and final stanza's....I hope you like our view. :)
