And Yet

Sometimes we give up, sometimes we do not- sometimes the ones that we care about give up on themselves.

Alcohol induced alcoholism
Faith based falsity
Love starved hatred
Venomous tipped kisses

Tripping over the inevitable
Stumbling down the flight of truth
Flash blinded by the induction of pain
Pierced by the halting anger

And yet
I love you

Kindling that which isn’t possible
Reigniting the coldest ash
Into something resembling a life
Into something ersatz supposed to be
Reality based emptiness

And yet
You left me

Choked by the belt around your arm
Around your soul another noose
Slowly eradicating all
Hope you understand
How I felt
Why I had to leave
That which is painful
Is necessary

And yet
You caved in to temptation

Telling all what they wanted to hear
What they knew to be lies
A bed of deceit
Based on the perception of fact
Clean were the intents
Of a few
Dirty were the actions

And yet
You live
