i sat down
at the old bar
not too far from home
he said to me
i said to him

where ya been
on the mend
on the go i don't know
does it show
he said yes
i guess
it did

whata' want
give me a beer
what bings you here
fixin ta leave
where ya goin

i don't know
said i understand
you be
an old me
a ramblin' man

he ask me
what do uya' see
an old memory
hell man let that be
i see you
you see me
let old memories be
can you

no
i know
didn't think you could
knew you wouldn't
even if you should

so whatta' ya' gonna do?
if i was you...
i said you ain't me
just let me be
you don't know my memory
you ain't gotta' clue
about my history
or who i be
or where i am
damn

he grinned
son
i know more about you
been there about there too
he ask " do you remember"
i said your just an old bar tender

he said right

late at night
far from home
no place to roam

just an old bar tender
talkin' ta' me
an old gunsglinger
i remember

just an old bar stool
me bein' a fool

i remember
an old bar tender
