Summer

When we loved each other

The summers were warm,

The wind sang melodies

Of youth and innocence,

And the happiness we were

So desperately seeking

Was at the tips of our fingertips,

At the center of our hearts.

It was easy to make love in

Your dining room

Or the back of your truck

Or in the Heaven we created

In the darkness of your room

With a single candle burning

And the heat of summer nights

Smothering us,

Pushing us into each other.

And now I’m waiting to be served

With divorce papers,

Disintegrating into the mass of

Days that have blended together

Into a mess of smudged mascara

And choked sobs to Coldplay, as

I stare at a picture of you

Living somewhere across our beloved

United States

Smiling happily with the wife

You weren’t meant to have.

All I have left are the melting summer days

And memories dancing in my mind,

Tearing at my heart,

Reminding me of you…

Reminding me that I have

Fallen in love for the very last time.

Well expressed and passionate feelings coming straight from the heart and because I once sat in your seat I know that is how you truly feel. All I can say is if you allow yourself to heal you will love again and put your heart back together but only you can decide when.n Be strong Mia.
