IF I HAS FOUR FEET AND COULD COUNT TO EIGHT
THEN TWO STEP FORWARDS MIGHT NOT BE THE SAME AS TWO STEPS BACK

AS I TOLD HIM ALL TO START TO COUNT AND STEP BACK A STEP AT A TIME

I WANTED TO LOOK OE'R THE BANK.
SEEMS ALL I EVER BEEN DOING 'TIL
TODAY
AND COULD STAND IT ONLY
AT LEAST SEVEN MORE TIMES
WHILE THEY ALL COUNTED TO EIGHT
AND WERE GETTING OUT OF THE WAY

IF I HAS MY OWN TWO FEET
NOT EVEN PETER AND THE SAINT
COULD HAVE RUN SO FAST ROUND THE CORNER
TO MY OWN LOCAL BRANCH OF THE NATIONAL BANK
TO MAKE A DEPOSIT IN MY ACCOUNT WHERES I'D ALWAYS BEEN OE'R SEEING
TO KEEP THE BOOKS BALANCED
TO THE LEVEL OF THE LAKE
CAUSE IF THE WATER DONT BALANCE
ONE CORNER
IT AINT GONNA BALANCE NO WHERES
COUNT EVENS ONE MILLION TO EIGHT
IN EIGHTS AND TWOS
I WAS THINKING THEN
AS THEY WERE ALL DOWN ON ALL FOURS
TOO
PRAYING ALONG
AS I SPOKE
FOR PETERS' WEALTH
AND HIS SAINTLY HEALTH
AT THE LOW LEVEL OF THAT BANK

COULD NOT EVEN FILL A GAS TANK
THERE
AN GET AWAY
CAUSE THE GAS FLOW
UPHILL TO THE LAKE
AN MADE MY BREAK
TO MAKE A DEPOSIT AT A LEVELER BANK

IS ALL I CAN SAY
AN EMPTY TANK
DONT GO UP HILL
BY ITSELF
AT ANY BANK
